By Drew Moyer, Underwriter — General Liability · USMC Insurance

Underwriting Services Management Co (USMC Insurance), an E&S MGA, writes general liability for structural steel contractors up to four stories in exterior height — including work in New York State and the five boroughs — with Action Over coverage. Coverage is available in every U.S. state except Alaska, with limits up to 2M/4M/4M and a $100,000 minimum premium.

Why structural steel is hard to place — and what USMC accepts

Structural steel erection is high-hazard, and New York’s Labor Law exposure makes many markets decline it outright. USMC underwrites the class directly and accepts:

  • New ventures
  • Exterior height up to 4 stories
  • Work in NY State, including the 5 boroughs

Ineligible: super-structure work, and work exceeding 4 stories.
