By Drew Moyer, Underwriter — General Liability · USMC Insurance
Underwriting Services Management Co (USMC Insurance), an E&S MGA, writes general liability for trucking and moving companies across every U.S. state except Alaska. Eligible work includes household-goods moving, containerized freight, construction materials, and freight forwarding, with limits up to 2M/4M/4M and a $10,000 minimum premium.
What’s eligible — and what isn’t
Eligible: household-goods moving, containerized freight, construction materials, freight forwarding.
Ineligible: hazardous-material hauling/disposal, and labor-only operations (loading and unloading labor for movers). If a mover has a warehousing operation, USMC needs a copy of their warehouse legal-liability coverage.

Don’t forget the auto exposure
GL for a trucker or mover covers premises and operations liability — but the driving exposure needs hired and non-owned or commercial auto. USMC writes HNOA (including for movers and subcontracted trucking/hauling), so a broker can place both sides of the risk with one market.
What moving/trucking operations are eligible?
Household-goods moving, containerized freight, construction materials, and freight forwarding.
Can movers get GL and auto together?
Yes — USMC writes movers’ GL and hired & non-owned auto.
